Help! I would love to give it to my grade 7’s, but I am having trouble solving it myself! Here is what I have so far:
– Average circumference or lap length is 308.4mm.
– 168.65mm – 27.77mm = 140.88mm thickness of the roll of paper.
– 140.88 ÷ 0.22mm = ~640 laps of paper.
– ~640 laps x 308.4mm on average = 197 376.8mm total length of paper.
– 197 376.8mm ÷ 51.21mm = about 3 854 estimated number of tickets.
So, I am way off from 2000. What am I doing wrong?
There are only 322 laps of paper — your “thickness” is a diameter thickness, not a radius thickness.
