We explored this image:
After taking some time to notice and wonder in your groups, participants shared out what they noticed and wondered.
We let you share out your thinking as well as make any conjectures. Then you were challenged to predict what any number from 21 to 60 looked like.

GECDSB Mathematics Symposium
The GECDSB Mathematics Strategy Team is excited to continue the deep learning of mathematics across the system from K-12, and what better way to start off the 2017-18 school year on a positive note than with a full day of learning with your colleagues. Details of the event are below:
Event: GECDSB K-12 Mathematics Symposium 2017: Expertise for All
Date: Saturday November 4th, 2017
Time: 8:30 am – 3:00 pm
Location: Tecumseh Vista Academy
Sessions will be available for all system mathematics teachers from K to 12.
Lunch will be provided to all participants.

Global Math Week
The GECDSB Vision for Mathematics Document was released during the 2015-16 school year to outline our board stance on Mathematical Literacy which includes the Five Mathematical Proficiencies, Eight Considerations When Planning for Mathematical Instruction and our Beliefs.
As a means to support both Our Vision for Mathematics and the considerations presented by The Math Task Force, The Greater Essex County District School Board is happy to endorse and promote Global Math Week led by The Global Math Project on their quest to reach 1 million students from around the world.
Global Math Week will take place from October 10th to 17th, 2017 and participating can take as little as 15 minutes to gift your students the opportunity to participate in a global movement to change how the world perceives and enjoys mathematics! This opportunity to engage in joyous mathematics activities spans from Kindergarten through Grade 12 and the website offers full technology, low technology, and no technology versions to ensure every classroom can participate.

Math teachers from K-12 are welcome to join us in unpacking the possibilities of the Global Math Project in your classroom during an optional after school workshop.

Global Math Week: A “How-To” Guide
Do you have 15 minutes… in October?
Join 1 million students, teachers, and friends in an astounding mathematical experience! See mathematics like you’ve never seen it before and take part in a global math conversation with your students.
In this workshop, we will give you a step-by-step guide to engaging in this incredible mathematics experience in your classroom from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
