    Hi there,

Your 3 act math videos look very interesting but I don’t see a summary of how to use them effectively? Am I not looking in the right place or is there another site that I could look at to learn more about this interesting teaching method?

    Thanks,

    Hi Marshall,

Most of my own 3 act math tasks have summaries explaining how I use them (to the best of my ability). You can find them here: https://tapintoteenminds.com/3acts-by-author/kylepearce/

As for what a 3 act math task actually “is”, I’d recommend reading Dan Meyer’s post here:
    http://blog.mrmeyer.com/2011/the-three-acts-of-a-mathematical-story/

There are some details there as well as links to useful resources. Every task is different, so obviously each one will be delivered in a unique fashion. However, I think the key is developing the question and sparking student curiosity to hook them in. Here’s a post (with video) that deconstructs a 3 act math task through the 4-part lesson:
    https://tapintoteenminds.com/4-part-math-lesson/

Hope this helps get you started! Let me know how else I can help!

    Kyle
